I believed the Baldwin 6'3" to be the better buy for the price, as Falcone's were very expensive. Mason & Hamlin pianos are a popular choice for students, home enthusiasts and professional musicians alike. Hollywood Piano is proud to carry all three with brand new Mason & Hamlin and Baldwin and re-newed Steinway & Sons. Of the three Mason & Hamlin and Steinway are still hand built in the USA. But not having the wallet or room for that model, that left the 6'1". There are three remaining American piano companies which date back to the 1800s, Mason & Hamlin, Steinway & Sons and Baldwin. (Mason & Hamlin was dormant then.) The Falcone definitely held its own, and had I bought one, the 7'4" anyway, I'm sure I would have been very pleased with it.

I did a lot of shopping on line and also went to a few additional dealers looking at both new and used pianos. So the performance and sound are on a high level. The good news about this Mason & Hamlin concert grand is that it was rebuilt fairly recently with new strings, tuning pins, damper felt, hammers and other action parts. This is why Mason & Hamlin pianos retain soundboard crown longer than other pianos. This metal bracing further supports the piano.
